Information people look for first
In a medical or family emergency, the first questions are usually practical: who to call, which doctor to contact, what medicines someone takes, and where the insurance card is.
- Included: Two or three emergency contacts and how to reach them
- Included: Your doctor's name and hospital preference
- Included: Health insurance provider and where the policy card is kept
- Included: Regular medicines and known allergies (kept with you, not just online)
- Included: Blood group, if known
- Included: Who looks after children, elderly parents or pets if you cannot
Household essentials
Note where the spare keys are, who to call for household help, and any bills that would need to be paid if you were unavailable for a few weeks.
Share the plan
A plan is only useful if someone knows it exists. Tell at least one trusted person where your list is and how to reach your emergency contacts. Ask your contacts first before you add them — it is their information too.
