Where are the papers?
Identity, insurance, property and bank records are scattered across cupboards, inboxes and apps.
The family sandook, made for today
Every Indian home had a sandook, a trunk for the family’s papers. Our Sandook is that trunk for today: a private place for your documents, letters, wishes and contacts.
Free to start. No payment details needed. The quiz needs no signup. A planning tool, not legal advice.
The problem
Policies nobody knew about. A locker key with no explanation. Words that were never said. Most families face these questions at the hardest possible moment. A little preparation now can make that moment clearer.
Identity, insurance, property and bank records are scattered across cupboards, inboxes and apps.
Families often do not know which advisers, employers or institutions need to be contacted.
Personal wishes and messages often stay unwritten because there is never a right time.
What you can do
Keep a clear inventory of identity, insurance, property, banking and digital records — what exists and roughly where it is kept. No uploads, no passwords.
Write letters, memories and life lessons for the people you love. Every message stays private to you until you decide otherwise.
Record your wishes and emergency contacts so the people you trust know where to begin.
A simple Sunday check-in in the app. Messages to your nominated contacts after four missed weeks switch on once our messaging service is connected — nothing is ever released automatically.
A one-to-one session to help you organise documents, letters, digital storage and family instructions.
Free · 2 minutes

Privacy first
We designed Our Sandook to be useful without collecting the things that cause the most harm if they leak.
Each account can only read its own records. The database enforces this.
We never ask for credentials, codes or document scans.
Missed check-ins never release a letter. A person reviews every case.
Reminders and release stay off until the safeguards are in place. No independent audit yet.
Questions
Nothing dramatic. You will receive reminders, and checking in at any time during the week counts. Checking in again resets the count.
Only after four consecutive missed weeks may your nominated contacts receive a neutral message asking them to check on you. That message never says anything has happened to you and never shares your letters or documents.
Letters are stored in our database and are visible only to your account. The database enforces this with row-level security, so one account cannot read another account's records. Staff do not read letter contents during normal operation. We do not claim this makes the service impossible to breach — no online service can promise that.
A report of a death is only ever treated as a report. A trained person reviews each case, asks for evidence through a secure process and records every decision. Missed check-ins, a single phone call or a one-time code are never treated as proof of death. We do not use any automatic death-verification service.
Only when all of these are true: you chose a named recipient for that specific letter, a reported death has been reviewed and approved by a person, the recipient's identity has been verified, and nobody has disputed the case.
Letter release is not yet switched on. It will remain off until the safeguards described on our letter safekeeping page are in place.
