Letter safekeeping
Your letters, released only with care
₹199 per month, or ₹1,799 per year, for weekly check-ins, nominated contacts and — once every safeguard is in place — a carefully reviewed way to pass on chosen letters. No automatic renewal.
Included today
- Everything in the free sandook
- Weekly check-ins you complete in the app, with your history
- Up to 5 nominated emergency contacts
- Choose which saved letter is meant for which contact
Switched on later
- Automatic email and WhatsApp reminders and messages to your contacts. These switch on once our messaging service is connected.
- Release of chosen letters after a reported death. This stays off until every safeguard is in place, and a person always reviews a report first. No letter is ever sent automatically.
What the subscription includes
Weekly Sunday check-ins, up to 5 nominated contacts and the ability to choose a named recipient for each saved letter, on top of everything in the free sandook. Reminders, messages to your contacts and the release of letters are switched on later (see below).
Nominated contacts
You can nominate up to 5 people. You must confirm that each person has agreed to be contacted. Nominating someone does not give them access to your account, documents or letters, and it does not give them any legal authority.
How weekly check-ins work
Each check-in week begins on Sunday at midnight in your timezone (India Standard Time by default). Checking in at any time during the week counts. We send a reminder on Sunday and another mid-week if you have not checked in, using the channels you opted into.
What happens after missed check-ins
If you miss 4 weeks in a row, your nominated contacts may receive a neutral message asking them to check on you. The message does not say that anything has happened, and it contains no personal details, letters or documents. Checking in at any time resets the count.
Missed check-ins never establish a death, never open a release case and never release a letter.
Reporting a death
Anyone can report a death using our report form. A report only opens a case for a person to review — it is never treated as confirmation. We also notify the account holder, and if they sign in or check in, the case is disputed automatically.
What evidence may be required
A reviewer may ask for evidence such as an official death certificate and proof of the reporter's identity and relationship. Please do not email documents. The reviewer will explain a secure way to share them, and evidence is used only for that case and kept only as long as needed.
Secure evidence upload is not built yet, so a reviewer will explain a safe manual way to share it. Release of letters stays switched off until this and the other safeguards are in place.
How review and approval work
A trained reviewer checks the evidence, the reporter's identity and whether anything is in dispute, and records every decision with a reason. Ambiguous or disputed cases are escalated. An approval covers specific letters for specific recipients only — never everything.
How authorised letters will be delivered
This is switched off today. When it is switched on, each approved recipient is first verified as the person you named. They then receive a notice to visit a secure, time-limited page where they confirm their identity before reading the letter. Letters are not attached to emails or WhatsApp messages. Each letter is delivered once; retries cannot send it twice.
Updating recipients or revoking instructions
You can change or remove a letter's recipient, mark a letter as private, or delete it at any time. Removing a recipient immediately stops that letter from being released to them.
Cancellation or payment failure
If the subscription ends, check-ins and contact messages pause and no release can be considered. Your letters, wishes and documents stay in your free sandook until you delete them. Our refund policy explains how unused time is handled.
Data retention, deletion and disputes
You can delete your account, which permanently removes your letters, contacts and records. Review records are kept for a limited period after a case closes to handle disputes, and are then deleted according to our retention schedule. Anyone may dispute a case by contacting us; disputed cases cannot release letters.
Service limitations
We cannot guarantee delivery in every circumstance — for example, if contact details are out of date, a recipient cannot be verified, or instructions are unclear. When instructions are ambiguous, we stop and resolve them manually rather than guess. Our Sandook does not verify deaths automatically and is not a substitute for a will.
